Jim’s 25kW Ground-Mount System

Jim is a hog farmer in rural Ohio. The farm has been in his family for over 50 years, and regularly produces around 5,000 hogs per year. Unfortunately, alongside his soaring successes were soaring utility rates, so Jim decided to invest in solar as a way to cut his operating expenses. “With the cost of electricity and energy rising,” said Jim, “we are trying to use the natural resource of the sun.”

The engineers at ecojiva thoroughly assessed Jim’s usage patterns, and determined that a 25kW ground-mount system would be ideal for his farm. The 25kW system replaced 75% of his farms’ annual electric usage, and the ground-mount configuration fit in seamlessly with the conditions of his site.

Jim was also eligible for a federal grant program. He worked with ecojiva’s in-house grant writers to complete and submit an application that ultimately secured him over $25,000 in federal funds for his project.

On working with ecojiva, Jim reported that “the crew was very good and efficient. They were very informative, polite, and answered all of my questions.”
